Welcome to Theater Arts

The Student Theatre Association (STA), a student club sanctioned and funded by the College’s Student Government Association, was formed in Fall 2005 and is associated with the Theatre Arts Program. The Theatre Arts faculty comprises its Board of Advisors. STA uses the Program's facilities and the faculty mentors its actors, directors, and designers.

STA produces a mainstage show each year. The club will produce Peter Shaffer’s Black Comedy and William Saroyan’s Hello Out There in February 2009. In 2008 it produced Jean-Claude van Italie’s Interview; in 2006 William Inge's The Disposal; and in 2007 David Ives's Bolero and Lucille Fletcher's Sorry, Wrong Number.

The club also provides financial assistance to students attending the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region I festival each year, and it sponsors evenings of scene work where actors present their work and receive critiques from performance faculty members.  The club also produces the Program’s year-end Gala, a semi-formal affair that celebrates the year’s accomplishments and that brings closure to the academic year.

The Student Theatre Association exists to provide students with a variety of theatrical opportunities and is limited only by the imaginations of the students its serves.
