Creating Shapes in Space
We can all admire the graceful curves of a classic car, the aerodynamic
design of an airplane wing, or the shiny wings of a ship's propeller,
but we may not be aware of the math that makes this possible.
These notes will offer a glimpse into the area of Computer Aided
Geometric Design. Come along and investigate how to create
and manipulate curves and surfaces that are varied in
shape, easy to describe and quick to draw!
Just follow the "Next>" links in the right bottom corver!
Thanks!
Many thanks are due to Evgeny Demidov for the Bezier applets,
David Forsey and his team in the Dragon Wing at UBC for some
exciting examples, and Asa Packer for his collabotation on the Mathematica
notebooks that drive the 3D spline geomview worlds.
