A HELPING HAND FOR HAITI - CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Monday — February 1
11:00 pm — Fr. Dean Dining Hall — Late Night Pancake Breakfast with Dr. Dobelle
All students are encouraged to attend this free event – Dr. Dobelle and his staff are looking forward to serving everyone pancakes.

Tuesday — February 2
7:30 pm — Dever Hall & Stage — Step Afrika! – Free and open to the public - a ticket is needed to attend the performance and can be picked up at the Campus Center Service Window. Step Afrika is the critically acclaimed company celebrated worldwide for its performance of stepping, the high energy percussive dance created by African American fraternities and sororities.

Thursday — February 4
7:00 pm (Reception at 6:00 pm) - Woodward Center - Dr. Michael Eric Dyson — Free and open to the public. Dr. Dyson, an American academic, author and radio host, is best known for his commentary on American culture, especially as it pertains to African Americans. He is also a leading scholar on hip-hop music, as well as its roots in African and African American cultures.

Thursday—February 5
7:30 pm — Dever Hall & Stage — America’s Next Great Star: Live Show & TV Taping. Tickets are FREE @ the Campus Center Service Window — seating is limited!

Tuesday — February 9
10:00 am — 3:00 pm — Wilson Hall — Bake Sale (sponsored by Persona Magazine)

Thursday — February 11
7:00 pm — Dever Stage & Hall — Dancing with the Professors — ($2 admission charge)
Come watch your favorite professors team up with students in one of a kind dance performances!

Tuesday — February 16
7:00 pm— Ely Main Lounge — Music Benefit (sponsored by WSKB). Enjoy a night filled with music from local WSC bands and musical groups.

Wednesday — February 24
11:00 am to 12:00 pm & 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm — Faculty and Staff Day at the Tim & Jeanne’s, Fr. Dean Dining Hall. All faculty and staff are invited to eat lunch in the Dining Hall either an early lunch (11 am—12 pm) or a late lunch (1:30 pm—2:30 pm). Cost: $5—all money collected will go to Haiti relief efforts.

Thursday — February 25
6:00 pm — Scanlon Banquet Hall—Soul Food Dinner. Cost: $5 for students/$7 for faculty & staff. Come enjoy great food and entertainment at this favorite Third World Organization event!

7:30 pm — Dever Hall & Stage — Benefit Show (sponsored by Class of 2010) - $5 for students/$10 for others). Enjoy music, dancing, and singing as performed by our talented students!

Friday — February 26
11:00 pm — Ely Main Lounge — Brown Bag Bingo

Saturday—February 27
10:00 pm — 1:00 am — New Hall Multi-purpose Room — After-Hours Party. Come dance and “boogie” for Haiti featuring DJ Boogy!

Tuesday, March 2
6:00 pm — Ely Main Lounge — THANK YOU Event! Gather with friends for good food and music - our way to say THANK YOU to all for your contributions!

OTHER ACTIVITIES:
T-shirts for Sale at the Campus Center Teller Window (sponsored by Class of 2011) - $10 w/$2 going to Haiti Relief

Persona Literary Magazine is sponsoring a poetry writing contest. Winning poems will be published in the spring edition of Persona. Theme of the poems is “Haiti” and poems should be submitted to erafferty9534@wsc.ma.edu, by Sunday, February 28, 2010.
