First Annual Career Networking Night (03/02/2010)
Over 60 Regional Planning and Environmental Science students attended the 1st Annual Career Networking Night (03/02/2010). This event was facilitated by Career Services and brought 12 successful alumni back to campus to talk to our students about future career opportunities. Thanks to everyone who participated!

GARP Students Attend Environmental Conference
Several students from the GARP Department presented their research at the 8th Annual New England Environmental Research Symposium at Bridgewater State Collge (11/14/2009). Environmental Planning Club Climbs Mt. Monadnock
Students from the Environmental Planning Club climbed Mt. Monadnock on a beautiful fall day (11/07/2009). Dr. Brian Conz and Dr. Carsten Braun joined them for the hike.

GARP Department Attends Planning Conference
The GARP Department was well-represented at the Southern New England Regional Planning Conference (11/05 and 11/06 2009). Our group included: Andrew Golas, Michael Thompson, Dr. Stephanie Kelly, Ethan Michaud (all shown in picture below), Matt Waldrip, Dr. Marijoan Bull, and Dr. Carsten Braun.

GARP Department at Earth Day Sustainability Fair (04/22/2009)
The GARP Department (Marijoan Bull and Carsten Braun) organized an Interactive Ecological Footprint Exhibit for the Sustainability Earth Day Fair (Wednesday, 04/22/2009). More than 50 students and guests calculated their Ecological Footprint and explored options to become more sustainable.

GARP Students help Habitat for Humanity
Professor's Bull's Housing in America class spent a Saturday in April 2009 at a Habitat work site learning first hand about improving housing conditions.

GARP Department participates in information event for prospective students
On November 18, 2008 the Geography and Regional Planning Department participated in an information event organized by the Admissions Department to attract local high school students to Westfield State College.

Brian W. Conz, right a professor of geography at Westfield State College, helps Duggan Middle School Students, Shania Mercier 11, center and her classmates, Analee DeJesus 11, left and Kiana Williams 12, behind them. Brian is working with the students how to use GPS and making maps.

GARP Department students present their research at conference
Four students from the Geography and Regional Planning Department / Environmental Science Program (Laura Settle, Nicholas Frugale, Derek Strahan, and Jonathan Peters; Faculty Mentor: Dr. Carsten Braun) presented their research projects at the 7th Annual New England Environmental Research Symposium held at Bridgewater State College Saturday, November 15 2008.

GARP Department faculty member represents Westfield State College
Dr. Carsten Braun represented Westfield State College at the 'Party Of Ideas' hosted by WGBY to develop new and innovative ideas related to clean energy, climate change, and sustainability in Western Massachusetts and beyond.
