FEDERAL WORK STUDY

Aid Available through Student Employment Programs
Westfield State College has grouped the various financial aid programs available to our students into three different categories: grant/waivers, loan and work.  The following is a description of the student employment program.

Federal Work Study

  • Federal program awarded by the Financial Aid Office at WSC

  • Eligibility is based on financial need

  • Available to undergraduate students enrolled at least half-time pursuing their first bachelor’s degree

  • Provides eligible students the opportunity to work part-time on campus and earn a pay check every two weeks

  • Hours vary from 5-15 hours a week

  • Limited number of summer Federal Work Study positions are available

Trust Fund Positions

  • Direct hiring of students as college employees with no attention given to the student’s financial aid status

  • Responsibility of student to locate a trust fund position on campus

  • Very limited positions
