GETTING STARTED FOR J-TERM 2009
Participation criteria for J-term courses:
Students must be:
- an active Westfield State College students
- in good academic standing
- have earned a 2.25 GPA over at least 24 completed credits
(the Freshman Experience course in Mexico is limited to freshmen who
have completed FEXP 0101; those students are not required to have 24 completed credits)
APPLY FOR YOUR PASSPORT IMMEDIATELY!!
- You are strongly encouraged to attend one of the Information Sessions offered by the J-Term course leader (dates and times will be posted on the website) or to pick up information from the International Programs Office.
- If interested and eligible for one of the courses, complete all parts of the application form found online and in the International Programs Office and turn it in to the International Programs Office by the October 1st deadline.
- You will receive a confirmation letter that the office has received your application and information about the selection and notification process.
- Make an appointment with the Financial Aid office to discuss any loan or grant opportunities available to you.
- The selection committee’s decision will be communicated to you by the International Programs Office on or about October 15th. A $500 course deposit is required by November 1st, with full payment by December 1st.
- The Physician Form is due by November 1st.
- Attend the mandatory Orientation session for your course. At that time, you will receive a syllabus, reading list and more information about packing lists, health and safety information, emergency and local contact information, etc.
