SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

Westfield State College is dedicated to developing academically-grounded, high quality international initiatives which allow students, faculty, and staff to engage the larger world through study abroad, international research, institutional partnerships and curricular development.

As part of the College's shared governance, the All-College Committee hereby establishes a special committee on international programs.  This committee will review, recommend, and advise on policy regarding:

  1. study abroad program approvals;
  2. priorities for development of new and revised international programs; and,
  3. institutional collaborations between Westfield State College and prospective partners.

The committee will also serve as an advocate for internationalizing Westfield State College and help disseminate information campus-wide about international issues, programs and opportunities.

Consistent with the College's governance process, this committee will include representation of faculty, staff and students:

Eight (8) Faculty members
Three (3) students
Two (2) members of the Association of Professional Administrators (APA)
Three (3) additional members to be selected by the President from members of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), members of APA, or non-unit professional employees of the College.

The committee will also include the following ex-officio members:

The Westfield Chapter President of the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA)
One (1) representative from the President’s Office
Two (2) consultants who will serve until their contract expires
Professor George Psychas

The chair and recording secretary of the committee will be elected by its members.

The committee is empowered to create its own bylaws to govern its operation and procedures.

The committee will submit a year-end report of its activities to the All-College Committee and to the President.  The report is due by May 31 of each academic year.
