- REQUIRED COURSEWORK. Completion of 18 graduate credits in history, which must include the following courses, or their equivalent in transfer credits:
Hist 0600 Readings: America, 1600-1815 Fall' 04 Ifkovic Hist 0605 Readings: America, 1815-1914 Spr '05 Orr Hist 0610 Readings: America, 1914 to the Present Sum '05 Konig Hist 0640 Readings: Topics in World History Fall '05 Abate Hist 0615 Readings: Europe, 1500-1789 Spr '06 Slavin Hist 0620 Readings: Modern Europe, 1789-present Sum '06 Anciello
- INDEPENDENT RESEARCH. Completion of 6 credits of independent research OR 3 credits independent research + Hist 302/502: Historical Research and Analysis (to be offered F'05 or S'06). Hist 302/502 is highly recommended: The research paper you write for this class may become part of your thesis.

- THESIS. Completion of 6 graduate credits of thesis research culminating in a successful thesis: Hist 0698 Thesis Research I and Hist 0699 Thesis Research II
- EDUCATION COURSEWORK. Completion of 6 graduate credits in Education. One course must include EDUC 633 Social and Cultural Theories: Foundations of Education. The second course may be any graduate course offered by the Dept. of Education taken with the approval of the Graduate Program Advisor Dr. John Ifkovic.
NEW M.Ed. COURSE FALL '06:
Hist 0625 Readings: Topics in World History
This is a variable-content class based on the instructor's expertise and interests. Topics may include the Ancient World, Islam, History of Religion, the World and the West, Colonization and Decolonization, or the history of selected regions (Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America). Readings will include both documentary and historiographical works. Dr. Abate.
