The Center for Teacher Education and Research, established in 2004 works to further develop the connections between Westfield State College and its K-14 partners. If you are a superintendent, principal or teacher, you can look to the CENTER as a resource for teacher education and professional development.

Working with both veteran teachers and those who are new to the field, the CENTER:

• Provides support needed to ensure quality teaching throughout the western Massachusetts school systems.
• Offers professional development opportunities
• Provides opportunities for research-based knowledge to improve curriculum and instructional practices.
• Strives to develop teacher-leaders who are continuous learners and are actively engaged in a learning community
• Building learning communities that:
  • support the use of diverse teaching and learning practices
  • result in high teacher performance and student achievement

The CENTER at Westfield State College is available to:

• Work with all schools in the western Massachusetts area to make quality courses and programs available to teachers, regardless of their location.
• Develop on-site programming as well as providing offerings on the campus
• Provide online professional development in many areas
