BRIDGEWATER - Junior forward Josh Naginewicz (Ludlow)
tallied the game-winning goal in the 104th minute to lift
Bridgewater to a dramatic 2-1 double overtime victory over Westfield State in
conference menÕs soccer action Oct. 10.
On the game-winning goal, senior midfielder Topher
Paone (South Easton) started the play with a pass that slipped past the
outstretched hand of Westfield keeper Matt Costa (Chicopee) and hit senior
forward Mike Quinn (Weymouth) in stride just outside the 18-yard box. Quinn
then fed a pass across the goal line to a wide open Naginewicz, who ripped home
the game winner into an unguarded net.
Westfield junior forward Dave Nalewanski (Easthampton)
opened the scoring in the 28th minute as he tallied his third goal
of the season. Bridgewater got the equalizer near the end of the first half on
a great hustle play by Quinn, who disrupted play in the BearsÕ offensive end
and chipped a cross to freshman forward Joe Zguro (East Longmeadow). Zguro
promptly headed the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the
season.
