WESTFIELD STATE COLLEGE is proud to host the 24th annual NCAA 2004 Division III field hockey national championship. Westfield State College participated in and hosted the first NCAA Division III field hockey national championship in 1981.
Visitors returning to the Westfield State campus will notice some significant changes to the college's athletics facilities. The Alumni Field features two new scoreboards and an AstroTurf playing surface, while the new 80,000 square foot Woodward Athletic/Academic Center was officially dedicated September 1, 2004. Tournament participants and spectators alike will be treated to first-class facilities in the $18 million field house, which include a spacious second floor lounge/reception area and indoor practice area.
TV TIME: This year's field hockey finals will be featured during an hour-long NCAA championship show on CBS on December 25, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
THE TOURNAMENT HOTELS are located in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts, the birthplace of basketball. The participating teams will be staying at the Springfield Marriot Hotel. The tournament officials will be staying across the street at the Sheraton Hotel.
