Westfield State 3 – Fitchburg State 0

BRIDGWATER – Senior pitcher Leah Peterson (Lakeville) tossed a two-hitter and drove in the game-winning run to lead Westfield State to a 3-0 victory over Fitchburg State in the Mass. State Conference postseason tournament on May 5.

Peterson did not issue a walk and struck out two Falcons, who swept a doubleheader from the Owls during the regular season.

Westfield collected two of its four hits in the fifth inning when it scored all three of its runs. Peterson stroked an RBI single thru the right side for a 1-0 lead. Emily Tangney scored on a wild pitch and Kate Silva had an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Silva, a freshman first baseman from Wilbraham, was 2 for 3.
