Trinity College 4 Ð Westfield State 2

 

WESTFIELD Ð Freshmen Christine Mwaturura (Zimbabwe) scored two goals and Megan McCurdy (Weston, Mass.) tallied a goal and two assists to lead Trinity College to a 4-2 field hockey victory over Westfield State Sept. 20.

 

Trinity evened its record at 2-2 while Westfield dropped to 1-5.

 

All of MwatururaÕs and McCurdyÕs points were recorded in the high-scoring second half, in which four goals were scored in the final 3:22.

 

Trinity led 1-0 at halftime on an unassisted goal by Kathleen Conlon (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) with 4:05 remaining. Mwaturura, with assists from McCurdy, scored at the 16:22 and 3:22 marks of the second half. Trinity then expanded its lead to 4-0 on a McCurdy goal with 2:26 remaining.

 

The Owls struck for  two quick goals by Megan Wolski (1:36 remaining) and Kate Anderson (0:26) to make the score respectable. Trinity beat Westfield, 5-3, last year.

 

Wolski assisted on the second goal and now has four goals and two assists in the last two games. The sophomore forward from Plymouth, Mass., was named both the Little East Conference and Mass. State Conference Player of the Week for tallying three goals and an assist in WestfieldÕs 5-1 win over Plymouth State last Saturday.
