Westfield State College (WSC) invites nominations and applications for the position of President. Reporting to an appointed Board of Trustees, the President serves as the chief executive/administrative officer of WSC. Within the policy guidelines established by the College's Board of Trustees and the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, the President oversees the comprehensive functioning and development of the College. Working with and through senior administrative colleagues, the President has responsibility for: institution-wide strategic planning; academic and student programs; personnel and budget management; external relations (including governmental relations); fundraising, and campus master planning and development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- an understanding of and dedication to the College's mission and character as a Massachusetts state college;
- a substantial record of personal and professional achievement, including significant organizational leadership experience;
- the background, values, skills and style(s) to work collaboratively and effectively in a unionized setting with faculty and staff;
- a vision for the College's development as a culturally diverse community;
- a sincere interest in and enjoyment of students and a commitment to sustaining the College's highly personal learning environment;
- the ability to relate persuasively to alumni and external stakeholders;
- an understanding of the Massachusetts political context and higher education funding process;
- relevant experience and a track record of success related to enhancing the College's public and private sources of support;
- an engaging personal presence and sense of humor,
- and an appropriate terminal degree.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation is competitive with comparable Massachusetts state colleges and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
