National Student Exchange (NSE)
is a program that students attend other NSE schools for a semester or entire school year at either the home or host school in-state tuition rate.

Features of the National Student Exchange include:

  • Tuition reciprocity across the United States and partner Canadian sites
  • Access to study abroad programs, internships and research options of NSE members
  • Access to honors programs at host institutions
  • Resident assistant exchange option
  • Countless multicultural opportunities
  • Multilateral rather than bilateral student placements
  • On-campus orientation and training
  • Web-based placement process
  • Strong support structure
  • Extensive web resources for coordinators, students, advisors, faculty, family &nd prospective members
  • Guaranteed access to federal financial aid for eligible applicants
  • Possibilities for curriculum sharing and joint program development
  • Enhancement of recruitment and retention initiatives
  • Value-added options for the campus

Westfield State College Student Applicants Must:

  • Be a full-time Westfield undergraduate student at the time of application;
  • Commit to stated terms and conditions (e.g., length of exchange, cost of exchange, academic advising
          agreement, and acceptance of home and host school policies);
  • Complete full-time study at Westfield, the semester immediately prior to exchange;
  • Have Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status (May apply in Freshmen year for Sophomore exchange);
  • Possess a 2.50 GPA at the time of application and at the end of the semester prior to exchange.

Cost to NSE Applicants From Westfield:

  • Westfield tuition/fees or host school in-state tuition/fees.
  • Host school room/board (or room/board accommodations off-campus).
  • Westfield Application Fee ($105 one-time fee).
  • Personal expenses including round trip transportation.

Student Financial Aid for NSE Applicants From Westfield:

  • Students who pay Westfield tuition/fees apply for financial aid through Westfield State College.
  • Students who pay host school tuition/fees apply for financial aid through the host school.

Westfield State College Student Grades and Credits:

  • Full credit is given for pre-approved courses satisfactorily completed while on exchange.
  • Student must complete an NSE Advising Agreement prior to exchange.
  • Student remains enrolled at Westfield while on exchange.
